ALL PROCEEDS BENEFIT THE ANIMALS AT THE HUMANE SOCIETY OF KENT COUNTY MD, INC Call Mary Ashley for information 410-810-0337 410-708-5833Click here to see pictures of the plush animals that are available and their prices Several years ago, Maryland introduced the automobile license plate program known as Save the Bay. This program has brought much-needed funds to the organization of the same name that was formed to clean up our own Chesapeake Bay. This program has proven so successful that many organizations have followed suit, including organizations involving animals and animal welfare. The latest tag to be introduced promotes the neuter of all household pets and sales of this new tag directly benefit our county. An application for the new Spay and Neuter plates is available at the Humane Society of Kent County on Route 213 just north of Chestertown. ![]() The new tag is similar to the standard Maryland State tag with the addition of a colorful picture of a kitten and a puppy and the words ";Spay and Neuter". When a person sees your vehicle, they will be well aware that you support the activities of your county animal shelter! When you purchase your application for the tags, that donation is funneled into a special Spay and Neuter Program currently under development at the shelter. We have found that across the board there has been a decrease in intakes and euthanasia, a decline that we feel is related to the efforts of the Humane Society's educational programs designed to encourage spayed and neutered animals here in Kent County. To get more information on the new tags or to purchase the application for a tag for your own vehicle, please call the Humane Society of Kent County at 410-778-3648, or visit us in person, Tuesday and Thursday from 10:30 until 5:30, Wednesday and Friday 10:30 until 3:30 or Saturday from 10:00 until 2:00 PM. Please show your support and help put us out of a job! The Humane Society accepts payment by American Express, Visa and Discover cards for any fees or purchases. If you have any questions, please call the shelter at 410-778-3648.
